AusCycling data — what's going on?

Intro

The move of BMXA into AusCycling has not been without challenges. One of the issues impacting racing and training events is the quality of the member data.
While there were always challenges with OSM the migration of member data to the AusCycling member database TidyHQ has added another dimension of nastiness. Some of the issues have been caused by problems with the migration process and some have been caused during the data entry process when members have created new AusCycling profiles.
The issues are impacting the entry and registration process for race events both at club and State level. Furthermore some riders are finding they are not receiving State Series / National Cup Points.
Issues

The main issues surfacing are:
• Transponders
• Gender
• Date of Birth

How to fix

  1. In most cases the best way to get clean data is to ensure the members have put clean data in.

    1. AusCycling are sending out comms to members encouraging them to login to their AusCycling account and check all data is correct.

    2. Clubs also need to ensure all members are checking and updating their profile information.

    3. The awesome video on Macarthur Facebook page shows how to do this https://www.facebook.com/watch/?v=301585684717703

  2. Registrars can make a note of any transponders that are wrong in the system and send the list to AusCycling for remediation. AusCycling have said they will remedy these within a few days of receipt

Be patient, work with your members and AusCycling

While it’s not an ideal situation this is probably as bad as it gets. AusCycling are working to clean up the data and have been sending comms to ask members to help out.
