Preamble

Sqorz Local Web Services distributes live results to other computers / tablets via the local network at the venue. However, this service does not distribute live results via the Internet.

NGROK is a an excellent third party utility that can be used for publishing live Sqorz Web Service results via the Internet. There are free and paid plans, the free plan is generally good enough for the distribution of Sqorz Web Services.

Here you will find basic instructions on how to use NGROK.

NGROK — initial setup (Windows)

  1. Download NGROK: from here https://ngrok.com/download

  2. Place the file in a directory or on your desktop

  3. Double click the file to unzip NGROK

  4. You need to sign-up to NGROK to obtain a Token Number. Sign-up to NGROK here: https://dashboard.ngrok.com/signup

  5. Once signed-up you will see a token number

  6. Copy the token numberYou will recieve a mail from NGROK

    Click on “Get your Auth Token here”

    Go to “2. Connect your account” and copy all the text

  9. Go back to NGROK on your computer and double click the NGROK icon — a black screen will appear

  10. Copy and paste the following command on the screen — ngrok config add-authtoken <token number>

  11. Replace <token number> with the actual token number you received when you signed in

  12. Press Entertext you copied

  13. Press Enter

    You will see the text “Auth token saved to configuration file”

  15. Done. Close the black screen.

NGROK — how to use

There are two steps: A. setup an event in Sqorz; and, B. set up NGROK.

A. Setup an event in Sqorz

  1. Open the event

  2. Go to Settings > Services and enable Local Web Services

  3. For Training make sure the Training checkbox is Enabled (see image below)

B. Setup NGROK

  1. Double click the NGROK icon — a black screen will appear

  2. Enter or copy/paste the following text — ngrok http 4343

  3. Press Enter

    Copy the text on the line that says “Forwarding” e.g. https://xxxx-xx-xx-xxx-xx.xx.ngrok.io

  5. Paste this text into the url address bar in a browser on a device with Internet access (computer, tablet)

  6. Select the required service from the menu
